The Stick Marsh/Farm 13 Reservoir was created by the St.
Johns River Water Management district to recreate swampy
marshlands that surrounded the St. Johns River decades ago,
and was lost to development. These marsh lands keep river
water clean and further create lush habitats for fish, birds and
an infinite variety of native wildlife.
Spanning 6,500 acres near Fellsmere, this large flooded
orange grove soon became the biggest bass fishing sensation
throughout the U.S., where anglers were regularly catching
bass over 10 pounds.
Strictly catch-and-release, anglers can not keep any bass in
this managed reservoir, which will keep this wonderful
reconstructed natural resource productive for generations to
come!
Not only largemouth bass are abundant here, but also the
speckled perch (black crappie) and bluegill populations.
Winter time speck fishing and summer time bluegill season are
widely anticipated by anglers throughout the area.

Stick Marsh - Nov 9, 2006

Anglers are starting to find good numbers of crappie throughout
the Stick Marsh and Farm 13 sections of the impoundment. Some
of the best areas have been around the pumping station and along
the middle canal between the Stick Marsh and the Farm 13 areas.
Chartreuse-colored jigs and live minnows are working best.
